James Harvey Obituary

James ‘Jim’ Harvey of Akron, IA has passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 18, 2022. His death has been confirmed by the Akron Hometowner, through an online post. The circumstances surrounding his death has not been made public at the time of this publication.

James Douglas Harvey was born in a house in Akron, Iowa during a snowstorm on January 17, 1943 to Donald and Eleanor (Stene) Harvey. He grew up in rural South Dakota where he attended Hoyt country school through 8th grade. He then graduated from Akron High School in 1961. Jim was a lifelong farmer; first helping on the family farm and working as a hired hand for neighboring farmers.

James Harvey Cause Of Death

Jim was united in marriage to Penny Blum on August 3, 1963 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Akron. They lived on a farm in rural South Dakota for five years before moving to a farm in Iowa. Jim milked dairy cattle for 37 years before retiring from the dairy industry in 2000. Jim also grew crops and raised hogs and beef cattle over the years; he was still helping to plant with his sons in the spring of 2022.
