Gert Venghaus Obituary

Gert Venghaus, International Gilbert & Sullivan Festival Trustee & Volunteer, has passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 7, 2022. His death has been confirmed by International Gilbert & Sullivan Festival, through an online post. The circumstances surrounding his death has not been made public at the time of this publication.

Gert Venghaus Cause of Death

Gert was a true friend, a true gentleman and simply a wonderful human being. He could always be found outside the Royal Hall throughout every Festival, welcoming guests and charming them into buying a programme on the way too!

Gert grew up in Germany and worked for over 30 years in Africa and Asia. He attended his first Festival in 2004 and was completely hooked. He became our most active volunteer and worked in every area behind the scenes, from setting up the Utopia Pavilion to scenery and front-of-house. His commitment to the Festival was extraordinary, and his wonderful character and larger-than-life personality made him a joy to know.
