Eric Robertson, Former Leicester Riders’ Player, dies suddenly on Monday, March 7, 2022. Leicester Riders has announced his death, through an online post. The circumstances surrounding his death has not been made public at the time of this publication.

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of one of our former players Eric Robertson”, Leicester Riders announced.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with Jerica, Luca James and all of Eric’s family & friends. Rest in peace Eric.

Eric was a part of the Riders family from 2016 to 2018, making 87 BBL appearances and winning six trophies (x2 Trophy, x2 League, x2 Playoff). He also enjoyed a successful BUCS career representing Loughborough University winning two BUCS golds. In truth his impact on the programme and the people he met transcended basketball.

Friends, colleagues, officials and veterans are sending their condolences and tributes to the family in respect of his death. He will greatly be missed by everyone.

“I am going to miss you ! 2018 you ask me to be your groomsmen when you could have asked anybody else. I’m grateful. Just typing this message I’m in tears. I don’t even know what to say honestly. All of the memories we had at FCA/Mission trip. The laughs/The hour conversations about life. The list goes on. Sorry I can’t write anymore. I know you will want me to keep chasing my dreams. I love you bro. Rest up for me!!!”

“Eric and his wife Jerica were part of our church family while he played for Leicester Riders between 2016-2018 before returning to play in America. He was a man who loved Jesus and who served faithfully in the life of our church, even despite his busy schedule. His outstanding example is an inspiration to us all.”
