Alexandria woman dies following fatal hit-and-run.
Fairfax County Detectives from Crash Reconstruction Unit continue to investigate the fatal hit and run crash from May 22.
According to Police, officers responded to a pedestrian struck by a small SUV at approximately 10:23 p.m. on Sunday, May 22.

What Happened to Oakton Daniela Betancourt
Upon officers arrival at the scene, the pedestrian, 18-year-old Daniela Bonilla Betancourt of Alexandria, was taken to the nearby hospital with injuries considered life threatening. Unfortunately, Betancourt succumbed to her injuries days after the crash.
According to authorities, preliminary investigations revealed the driver of a 2007 Honda CRV was traveling westbound on Little River Turnpike, when Ms. Betancourt was crossing Little River Turnpike from south to north inside the crosswalk near Oasis Drive. The driver struck Ms. Betancourt in the roadway and did not stop to assist or render aid.
Investigations are ongoing.
