Christian Kilburg was killed by a Cleveland firefighter for an unknown reason, and he was dead at the moment, as the shot was made at point-blank range.
Christian Kilburg, 25, was dead inside the unit from an apparent gunshot wound, police said.
In 9-1-1 audio obtained by 3News, McCarthy is heard saying, ” I just accidentally discharged a firearm and I accidentally shot my roommate.”
Officers were dispatched to McCarthy’s residence, Willogrove Apartments, located in the 37300 block of Grove Avenue.
Until the arrival of the police personnel, Kilburg was dead and there was no moment.
Kilburg suffered one single shot wound in his head.

Christian Kilburg: Cleveland Firefighter Arrested And Charged
Kevin McCarthy, 25, called Willoughby police on April 14 at 8:16 p.m. to report that his roommate, Christian Kilburg, 25, had been shot and killed accidentally.
According to a news release, it happened in a Willoughby apartment complex on Grove Street.
In a 911 call, McCarthy admitted to accidentally firing his gun, shooting Kilburg in the head, and killing him.
According to court records, McCarthy admitted to police that he was involved in a “loud conversation” in the parking lot 30 minutes before the shooting.
A neighbor reported an “aggressive demeanor” during the argument, which she believed was McCarthy, according to court documents.
During the initial investigation and the 911 call, McCarthy admitted to police that he and Kilburg were jokingly pulling guns on each other while seated on the apartment couch.

McCarthy was arrested on April 18 and charged with voluntary manslaughter. He was released on $50,000 bail.
He was placed under house arrest and had his location tracked via GPS.
McCarthy, who joined the fire department in 2021, has been placed on paid leave pending the outcome of the legal proceedings.
Kevin’s trial will begin with preliminary hearings on April 21 in Willoughby Municipal Court.
