Carmen DiMarca, CEO of Sound Side Records is dead. Carmen DiMarca was a Bassist, Singer, songwriter, producer, and lover of music.

Carmen DiMarca attended Lawrence High School and DiMarca is From Lawrence, Massachusetts.

“So many memories of Carmen DiMarca flooding my Facebook feed today. I thought I’d share one of mine.
Back in the mid 90’s, Carmen’s recording studio, Soundside Studios located on the first floor of his mom’s multi-level home in Lawrence, had fallen into severe disrepair and was no longer useable.
That broke my heart thinking about how many cool recordings had been made there over the years and seeing the place in tatters was more than I could bear.
So, I asked Carmen if I could rebuild the studio and get it up and running again on my dime.
I didn’t have to wait long for an answer.

The next call was to one of my personal favorite drummers, Andrew Gilman, who I hadn’t played with in years and really wanted to reconnect with.
The four of us wrote and recorded a bunch of tracks with no real goal in mind but surreptitiously at that time, Sully had called me and said he wanted to start gigging with this new band we had recorded (The Scam) and suggested we all should spend that Summer hitting every Boston club swapping as headliners every other nght.
I asked the guys and they thought that sounded cool.
Sully kept calling me to ask what we were going to name this band of ours because he wanted to start advertising these Boston dates as soon as possible. He was always a much better self-promoter than we were.
