Cause of Death

Tina Fiori, Californian Climber, dies unexpectedly. Her death has been confirmed by Common Climber, through an online post. She died after a ground fall while climbing near Sheep Pass Campground in Joshua Tree National Park.

caused her to fall to the base

“She had been finishing a climb and was lowering when a catastrophic break in some inn-situ rappel slings caused her to fall to the base of the climb. She sustained multiple injuries and her heart could not be arrested. A friend was holding her hand as another sort help.
“Over the years I had corresponded with Tina. She was a climber who buzzed with energy and found it impossible to contain her stoke for climbing and her friends. Her words just smiled. One of these times we correspond was after she had completed the route pictured. Tina thought I was Dave Evans until she twigged it was another Dave. She shared with me she had had a great time equipping and climbing the FA of this route, Delicate Honey (9.8/17) at Spy.”

“Todd W Gordon, a good friend and climbing buddy of Tina shared this with Common Climber. “Tina Fiori was well known and well loved by Southern California climbers. She was a mountaineer, rock climber, ice climber, and route developer. The climbing world will miss her dearly.”

“Tina was a regular member of the Joshua Tree climbing family and of wider California. She will be missed and her peers must be hollow at this time. Reach out to Fiori’s friends, always check your anchors, and check in with each other at these times.”

She will greatly be missed by many.
